Maryam Lustberg

Supportive Care & Survivorship Expert

Dr. Lustberg specializes in the management of breast cancer, combining compassionate care with the latest improvements in treatment and survivorship. She received her medical doctorate, as well as her Internal Medicine internship and residency from the University of Maryland Medicine School. Following, she completed her Hematology and Oncology fellowship at the Ohio State University.

Currently, Dr. Lustberg serves as the Director of the Center for Breast Cancer at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center, and holds the position of Chief of Breast Medical Oncology at Yale Cancer Center. She is also an Associate Professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology) at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Lustberg's research at Yale is primarily focused on enhancing outcomes for breast cancer patients through NIH-funded studies. Her work investigates novel biological markers aimed at early detection of recurrence and treatment-related toxicities.

Previously, Dr. Maryam Lustberg is the director of Supportive Care at The James, breast cancer survivorship for the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, and the Breast Cancer Survivorship Care Committee. Furthermore, Dr. Lustberg conducts NIH-funded research focused on improving the outcomes of breast cancer patients and studying biological markers that could help identify recurrence and treatment toxicity sooner.

Dr. Maryam Lustberg is a recipient of many awards; she was named to the Castle Connolly list of “Regional Top Doctors” from 2019 and 2020, was rated by Forbes as one of the top 27 breast medical oncologists in the nation, and has consistently received the Patient Satisfaction Award (given to the top 10% of providers nationally for patient satisfaction).
